Judaism and Islam: A Shared Message and the Truth of Islam
Judaism and Islam share many values, traditions, and historical foundations. Both worship one God, honor the prophets, respect divine commandments, and strive for purity, righteous action, and justice.
However, Islam does not present itself as a new religion that denies what came before it. Rather, it views itself as a continuation, correction, and affirmation of the message brought by Moses and the prophets — peace be upon them all.
01.
Islam Honors Moses (Peace Be Upon Him)
Moses holds a prominent and noble status in Islam:
- He is mentioned in the Qur’an more than any other prophet.
- He is presented as a model of leadership, patience, and obedience to God.
- Islam came to confirm Moses’ message, not to abolish it.
The Qur’an says:
“Indeed, We have revealed to you [O Muhammad], as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him. And We revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the descendants, Jesus, Job…” (Surah An-Nisa: 163)
02.
Monotheism in Islam Is the Same as in the Torah
Islam calls for the worship of God alone — without intermediaries, sons, or images.
The God in Islam is the same God that Moses spoke of:
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.” (Deuteronomy 6:4)
Islam does not aim to change this core belief — it confirms and reinforces it.
03.
The Qur’an Recognizes and Respects the Prophets of the Children of Israel
From David and Solomon, to Zechariah and John the Baptist, and even Jesus son of Mary — peace be upon them — all are honored as great prophets in Islam.
In fact, the Qur’an mentions “the Children of Israel” dozens of times, describing their status and reminding them of their mission and responsibilities.
04.
Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) Came with the Final Message
Just as Moses (peace be upon him) was sent to the Children of Israel, Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sent to all mankind.
Islam does not reject the original Torah — it acknowledges that it was divine revelation.
However, it teaches that over time, the scripture was altered and distorted, and so the Qur’an was revealed as the preserved and final book of guidance.
God says in the Qur’an:
“It is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to make it prevail over all other religions.” (Surah At-Tawbah: 33)
05.
A Call to Reflect, Not to Argue
Islam does not force belief but invites with wisdom and gentle preaching.
God says:
“Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction.”
Read the Qur’an sincerely, and ask God to guide you to the truth.
Do not reject Islam simply because you were born into another faith — truth is not bound by identity, but is illuminated through honest seeking.
In Conclusion:
God is One.
The message is one.
And the truth does not contradict itself.
If you believe in the God of Moses, then the message of Muhammad (peace be upon him) does not oppose that belief — it completes it.
Islam is the call of all the prophets — from Adam, to Abraham, to Moses, to Muhammad — peace be upon them all.
Read. Reflect. Seek.
God never misguides those who seek the truth with sincerity.
